Project Initiation Issues

1. The following email was received on July 20, 2010. Pay attention to the bold font, and read my comments that follow the email:

Norris,

I was one of your students at your Summer session at Virginia Tech campus (17th April to 12th June). I just gave my PMP exam today and am glad to report that I have passed the exam.

I would like to thank you for your teaching, notes and all material which came extremely handy. I would say that your slides were very useful tools and about 60% of the exam questions could be answered from those alone. Further I would like to add that there were a couple of questions on Project selection methods (Discount Rate, IRR and payback periods) that I found missing from your slides. Could you throw some material together for the benefit of your current/prospective students?

Thanking you once again,
Amit.

These topics were formerly in the Initiation process, and are not in 4th-edition. However, they are covered in the second segment 3 online presentation. That makes it more important that you work through and understand that presentation.

2. Also pay attention to the material in the same presentation regarding life cycle costing, which is referenced many times in 4th edition.
